Currently, he serves as Research Assistant to Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam of the BRAC Institute of Languages (BIL), where he contributes to data analysis, manuscript preparation, and the editing of academic publications.
Arian has demonstrated significant leadership on the global stage. As a Campus Director for the Millennium Fellowship under United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), he supervised and trained a cohort of 26 members to drive impactful social projects. His excellence in youth leadership led to his selection for the GET Engaged Conference 2023 in Budapest, Hungary. Additionally, his background includes serving as an elected Child Journalist for the National Children's Task Force (NCTF), where he advocated for child welfare and edited regional publications.
In the academic realm, Arian has served as an Adjunct Lecturer at BRAC University, teaching laboratories for Computer Graphics, Operating Systems, and Algorithms. His teaching portfolio also includes tenure as the Computer Science Departmental Head at Rosedale International English School and an instructor at the British Council.
Arian is a co-founder of BioTech Uncharted, a biotechnology research organisation founded in Bangladesh, working at the intersection of biological science and AI-driven biotechnology. Its research spans molecular biodiversity, computational reproductive biology, and mathematical modelling of biological systems. He is also a co-founder of the Development and Unity Alliance (DUA), a volunteer community organisation running free health camps and feeding programmes for children. Alongside this, he has worked as a freelance software developer, building production cloud and AI systems across web and mobile platforms.
Beyond academia, Arian has a diverse record of achievements. He is a Divisional Winner of the Bangladesh Physics Olympiad (2013, 2014) and the Winner of Spell Champs Bangladesh (2015). His technical prowess was recognized as a finalist in the APAC HPC-AI Competition by the National Supercomputing Centre. Uniquely, he is also an Official International Esports Caster, having commented for major tournaments organized by Neuron Esports and NTC.
His current research interests are highly interdisciplinary, bridging advanced technology, the life sciences and the social sciences. His portfolio encompasses work in Cryptography (IoT security and post-quantum communication), Artificial Intelligence (AI safety, smart contract vulnerability, and automated content moderation), Computational Biology and Biotechnology (molecular biodiversity, reproductive biology, and mathematical modelling of biological systems), and Computational Linguistics, alongside studies on mental health and pedagogical frameworks.

Under Review
Nuhan, A., & Islam, M. R. (2024). Challenges Faced by Bangladeshi Students in Learning Chinese Characters: An Evidence-Based Framework for Pedagogical Innovation.

Completed & Ongoing Research
Multilingual Safety Evaluation for Language Models: A framework for testing whether the safety behaviour of large language models holds consistently across the languages people actually use it in. The work pairs a controlled multilingual test set with an automated assessment pipeline checked against human review, with the aim of revealing where safeguards weaken outside high-resource languages.
Inline Content Moderation Proxy: A system that sits between a user and an online platform and decides in real time whether incoming content should be shown, obscured, or withheld. It combines rule-based screening with trained text and image models under a fail-soft design, so that errors favour recoverability. The purpose is to explore practical, low-latency content safety at the point of use.
Post-Quantum Communication for Constrained Devices: Research into securing device-to-device communication so that it remains resistant to future quantum attacks without depending on a central certificate authority. The work addresses both the initial pairing between devices and the continued protection of the data they exchange, with the goal of making forward-looking security practical on hardware with very limited resources.
Agentic AI for Smart Contract Vulnerability Detection: Development of an autonomous AI framework utilizing LLMs and multi-agent systems for blockchain security.
Molecular Biodiversity of Bangladeshi Fish Species: A consolidated assessment of the fish species recorded across Bangladesh's freshwater and marine waters, bringing together molecular identification data with national and global conservation assessments in a single reconciled reference. The purpose is to establish where genetic identification of the country's fish fauna currently stands and where the gaps lie, as a foundation for conservation and fisheries work. Conducted under BioTech Uncharted.
Functional Study of Sperm Ion-Channel Activity in Male Infertility: Research into a sperm-specific calcium channel required for the motility that enables fertilisation, examining how its function differs in reduced-motility infertility and whether that function can be restored pharmacologically. The work is designed around pre-registered hypotheses and prioritises measuring channel behaviour directly rather than inferring it from gene-expression data. Conducted under BioTech Uncharted.
Multi-Scale Mathematical Modelling of Blood Cell Formation: A differential-equation model of how the body produces red cells, white cells and platelets from a shared stem-cell pool, together with a formalism for linking processes that operate at different biological scales. The aim is a simulatable model that can be used to explore how the system responds to disturbance. Conducted under BioTech Uncharted.
Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV): Design and development of an autonomous underwater platform, supported by the first and highest seed grant awarded under BRAC University's IC5 / UIHP programme.
