Ratul is a Research Assistant in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at BRAC University, where he also earned his Bachelor of Science degree. His work sits at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Human-AI Interaction, Responsible AI, and Usable Privacy and Security, with a focus on designing technologies that better reflect the needs of diverse user communities.

He is particularly interested in how individuals in the Global South engage with technologies primarily designed in the Global North, within contexts shaped by distinct socio-cultural norms, infrastructural constraints, and varying levels of technological literacy. His work critically examines how users interpret, appropriate, and sometimes circumvent these systems in their everyday lives, offering insights into the gaps between design assumptions and lived realities. Currently, his research focuses on the role of large language models (LLMs) across diverse user populations, with an emphasis on everyday practices, trust, and privacy implications. 

He has authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed international conferences and continues to explore pathways for developing AI technologies that better reflect and serve underrepresented communities.
