Atiq is a Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at BRAC University, where he also earned his Bachelor of Science degree. His work sits at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Usable Security and Privacy, and Human-AI Interaction, with a focus on designing technologies and interventions that reflect the needs, behaviors, and realities of the people who use them.

He is particularly interested in how people in Bangladesh and South Asia experience digital risk and emerging technologies within contexts shaped by distinct social norms, household dynamics, and varying levels of technological literacy. His work examines the gap between what people know and what they actually do, such as why young adults who suspect a scam still click, and how families and institutions shape everyday safety practices. He also studies how learners and students build, calibrate, and sometimes misplace trust in generative AI, including how confidence indicators influence reliance and how people detect and respond to hallucinated outputs. Alongside this empirical work, he designs and evaluates interventions, including The Exiled Prince, a gamified visual novel that promotes cybersecurity awareness among non-technical university students.

He has authored multiple research papers in the area of human-centered computing, including work published at NGEN-AI 2026 and manuscripts under review at ACM CHI 2027, and continues to explore pathways for developing secure, trustworthy technologies and AI systems that better reflect and serve people in Bangladesh and South Asia.
