I am a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science and Engineering at BRAC University, Dhaka, currently based in Sydney, Australia. My research sits at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction, Human-Centered and Trustworthy AI, Usable Security and Privacy, and Social Computing. I study how people understand, trust, and rely on AI systems and information they cannot fully verify, and how they navigate risks to their privacy and safety, from surveillance to synthetic media. My work centers on marginalized and underrepresented communities in South Asia, with a growing focus on low-resource health and education contexts, and draws on qualitative, mixed-methods, and computational approaches.
My research has appeared at USENIX Security 2026, where I am co-first author on a study of surveillance and resilience during Bangladeshs July 2024 uprising, as well as at CHI 2025 and COMPASS 2026. I am Principal Investigator of From Silence to Support, a funded project co-designing an AI-assisted mental health support pathway for university students, and the Bangladesh country representative in a multi-country South Asian study of how people trust and share AI-generated content.
At BRAC University, I teach across HCI, AI, machine learning, and data science, and I have supervised more than 50 undergraduate thesis and project groups, many of them publication-oriented. Beyond my department, I serve as Vice Chair of the Asia SIGCHI Committee and Treasurer of the ACM SIGCHI Dhaka Chapter, co-founded the Human-Centered Computing and Society (HCCS) Research Group, and am co-leading the organization of the HCI Winter School 2027 in Bangladesh.
